Underwater Photography
XA is an underwater photography team based in Southern Indiana, working with students, creatives, brands, performers, media businesses, interior designers, event organizers, and other studios to create colorful underwater statement pieces and collections. Over the last 10+ years, we have safely introduced people of all ages and skill levels to the beautiful world of underwater art.
Pricing & Affordability
Usually, each underwater season begins on/around November 1st the year before. We like to spend the winter talking to people interested in underwater sessions and preparing for the new season. The number one thing we are asked first is how much does it cost and how do payment plans work. There's a reason photography lovers are fatigued.
We have had tons of experience selling photography and printed artwork to our clients over the years, and have developed a personal issue with how many photography businesses reveal pricing information or how they go about payment arrangements and minimum packages. So we've developed our own.
We are happy to schedule up to two video or voice call consultations to talk about our process, prices, and payment plans. Many of our clients are able to design a custom payment plan to go along with their custom underwater session. Payment plans can begin as early as the October before the intended pool date.
Around January, February, and March, we will start meeting with clients to discuss wardrobe, colors, final artwork. We might get together in the studio or online to look at color pallets together and to try on wardrobe pieces or window shop for custom looks. We talk about details, things we don't like, and what kind of flexibility we are looking at when it comes to the wardrobe on the actual pool day.
This is also when many clients will start to discuss their final artwork and add on options. There is no rush to make decisions about your final artwork until after we photograph and see the images together, but giving you this information in advance gives our clients plenty of time to work through financial scenarios. We firmly believe it is important to not ask our clients to make financial decisions when they're on an emotional high after seeing how beautiful their artwork is.
Instead, we want you to make a confident decision over time about the artwork you want to walk away with. Enjoy getting this information way in advance and playing "build an order" over and over until you find something that works for you specifically. You're free to change your mind about your order all the way up until you sign off on the final artwork after seeing the final edits and templates of the artwork.
One final thing that makes XA Underwater services unique, is that adding anything on past the basic underwater package is completely optional, and does not affect the level of service you receive. Whether you buy one image or dozens, every one of our clients has the same experience when it comes to planning for the pool day, wearing multiple looks in the water, and experiencing a guided reveal session where no financial decisions need to be made. Our level of commitment doesn't change based off of what you buy. For us? That means we can treat everyone the same. For you? That means there's no pressured sales or buyers remorse in our process.
Underwater sessions are what you want to make them. Maybe they'll help you suspend reality and become something of your dreams...or maybe they'll strip away all of the layers and show off who you really are. When we spend time talking about the options and details for the final artwork while also planning for the pool day, the knowledge we gain becomes a tremendous advantage on the day we do get together at the pool. It is not uncommon for our clients to have not only the underwater session paid off by the time we get into the water, but to also have their print order paid off or nearly paid off before we even take the pictures. Removing the stress around pricing and payment plans and eliminating the guessing game of surprise add ons elevates the experience we both have through clear and easy to understand communication. We are usually photographing from July through the end of September, unless we are traveling.
